Device Detect

Post by dmzx »

Extension Name: Device Detect

Author: dmzx

Extension Description:
Detects the visitor's device (phone, tablet, desktop, TV, console and more) from the user agent, Client Hints and a small browser-side check, and shows it with icons on posts, profiles and the index.

- iOS 26: the iOS version is taken from Safari's version token, because Safari freezes the version in the user agent at 18.x
- The CPU architecture is also read from the `Sec-CH-UA-Arch` header when the server sends it, and the README explains the optional `Accept-CH` rule for nginx
- When Who is Where passes a platform version, it now wins over a stored older OS version (Windows 11 showing as Windows 10)
- The extension checks the PHP and phpBB version before it can be enabled and shows a clear message
- Tidier layout of the devices on the member profile and of the recently active members in the ACP

- Detects phone, tablet, computer, TV, game console, watch, VR headset and e-reader from the user agent, Client Hints and a small browser-side check, including iPadOS and Android in "desktop site" mode, foldables, Brave, in-app browsers, Windows 11 and real Android versions
- Marketing names for model codes (from Google's device list), the iPhone and iPad model from the screen, the CPU architecture and the Linux distribution
- Device, operating system and browser icons that follow the colour of your style
- Shown as "Posted via" under posts, in the post profile, on member profiles, on the index and optionally in the navigation bar
- Members can hide their device in the UCP; guests are only counted anonymously; no IP addresses are stored; old statistics are pruned by a daily cron task
- In the ACP: settings, statistics (with a visits trend chart) and a tester for any user agent
- An online service with bot type and icon, and an event, for other extensions (Who is Where uses them)
- English and Dutch
